Upcoming amendments to the Syariah Court Practice Directions 2018


The Senior President of the Syariah Court has issued the Syariah Court Practice Directions 2018 (Amendment No. 1 of 2021). These amendments take effect from 1 April 2021.



Court users must ensure that Court documents filed on or after 1 April 2021 conform to the new forms, where applicable. Otherwise, the documents will be rejected by the Court Registry.

Update on Certain Mediation Proceedings via Webex


The Syariah Court will continue its safe management measures that have been implemented for Court users. Court proceedings will continue to be remotely conducted via the Webex app, where suitable.



From 1 April 2021 the Court may grant permission for certain mediation proceedings, in appropriate cases, to be conducted via Webex.



Solicitors for parties in mediation proceedings which satisfy the conditions set out in Registrar’s Circular No. 1 of 2021 may submit their request to the Court via email to attend mediation proceedings with their clients via Webex.
