Divorce is a serious matter, and it has immediate and long-term impact on the family, especially children. Before proceeding with divorce, consult a counsellor or trusted family members to explore all options so as to attain better outcomes for you and your family.

This section is an overview of the divorce process at the Syariah Court.

The Administration of Muslim Law Act (“AMLA”)  is the primary legislation making provision for regulating Muslim affairs and by which the Syariah Court is constituted.

The Muslim Marriage and Divorce Rules  is the set of rules prescribing the practice and procedure of the Syariah Court.

Applications

All applications, including registration for the Marriage Counselling Programme, must be filed in E-Services through the SYC Portal.  You will find the Login tab to the SYC Portal on the top right-hand corner of the website.   You should also read the User Guide on General Navigation first to familiarise yourself with the SYC Portal and E-Services, found at https://www.syariahcourt.gov.sg/Resources/User-Guides-and-Videos.

You will need to login using your SingPass if you are a Singapore citizen, Permanent Resident or foreigner with SingPass.  If you are a foreigner without a SingPass, you will need to first apply for an SYCPass from a link in the Login page to the SYC Portal.

After filing any application in E-Services, please check your account regularly for the status of the application or for any messages or notifications.
